Seiscientos cinquenta B

Here is the second 650B mountain bike frame that I just got back from paint. This one contains semi-removable seat stays as well to accommodate a belt-drive setup if you so desire. I didn't really know what colors to go with on it so I just took it over to Ace's Wild Custom and told Paul to wing it. He makes slapping it out of the park look easier than putting mustard on a hotdog. He painted the name on this one as well and I love the way the red letters stand out. Check out those Paragon stainless sliding drops. Fixing to go throw a shiney new bronze head badge on this dude. This thing is fun to play with even without wheels, just wait till it gets built up. Don't have a name for this frame yet, how bout Jamona.

El Chava

Here is the finished S3. Frame, fork, and integrated headset with an uncut steerer tube tips the scale at 4.3 lbs. in size 58cm (big boyz size), not bad. I'm stoked! Got a special paint job planned for this one. Check back. Chao.

S3 Superlight- Se llama "El Chava"

This is Smokey the cat in the shop with the new S3 Superlight road frame I am finishing up. My wife is always wanting me to include the animals in the blog so hopefully she will see this. This is the first frame that I have used all S3 tubing on and I may keep this for myself since I don't have a road bike right now and I am curious as to how this stuff rides. The frame as is now is 3 lbs. exactly, but it still needs a couple of braze-ons. When the bike is finished hopefully its gonna be lighter than ol' Smoke by a couple of pounds. Actually there is a weight limit on the S3 frameset and Smoke exceeds the limit, he has no use for a road bike anyway because he is strictly a cyclocross cat. Stay outta the road Smokus! This frame is dialed in like one of my cheesecakes, the wheel is perfectly centered and this is what I shoot for on every frame. I am dying to get on a lightweight bicycle. I have been riding a 20 lb. cross bike for about 8 months in these Mountain Home hills and I am worn out, ready to do some climbing, thats why I am naming this frame "El Chava" after my favorite racer of all time, Jose Maria Jimenez, man could he climb. Viva "El Chava!" Gonna throw an Edge carbon fork and some Campy-11 on it and depending on the wheels used it should fall into the mid-16s range. As soon as this one is done I am gonna be starting on my first frame with carbon and I can't wait to start on that because I have been planning to do it for so long and just haven't gotten around to it but its coming. The Kingshead

Here are some shots of Craig Winnie's custom 'cross frame. This was the most customized extensive build that I have done yet and it feels good to finish it up. This frame has S3 tubes on the top and down tube, a little beefier seat tube to accommodate the integrated seat post, wishbone seat stays, and Paragon stainless breezer dropouts. The integrated seat post turned out better than I had imagined. Patrick, from Quality Machining here in Mountain Home, turned it out for me and it is a perfect fit, he also included a couple custom stainless spacers for a little additional height if needed. The clamping mechanism is compliments of SDG and it is a single-bolt design made for their own line of saddles and it has a solid amount of adjustability. Me and my good friend Bob Davis dialed in the custom seat stays that have the internal cable routing to the derailleur and he put the perfect touch on the integrated head tube so that the bearing fit nice and cozy. Paul and Wayne from Ace's Wild Custom laid down the paint job that Craig designed. Its called Super-Orange and I had to lick it just to see what it taste like. Yes, it taste as good as it looks. Kind of like an Orange Sherbert Push-Up mixed with sweet cream with a little Sunkist poured in with it to make it pop. We may have invented a new desert. How do you get on top chef? This frame is also the first one to have the name actually painted on rather than decals (its your choice) as well as the new sterling silver Pegasus head badge designed by Jen at Revolution Cycle jewelry. To finish the frame off Craig opted to put the top of the line Alpha Q carbon cross fork on it and the Super-Orange gives it some super-sexy curves. This was a very unique build for me and I wanna say thanks to everyone who lended a hand, I couldn't do it without you. Thanks also to Craig who trusted me with the build and pushed me to make a one-of-kind frame. For the serial # we had to go with something unique so we engraved "Kingshead" in the bottom bracket shell. This frame is dialed in like one of my cheesecakes, the best ingredients with a lot of heart and soul. Thanks for looking. "Fly with MEECH."

No Quarter

Check this cat out digging in on the descent like the horses are out of the barn. Not sure what kind of tires he's rolling but if he hasn't washed out yet at this angle, on a dirt road I mind you, they must stick pretty good, probably Vredestein 28c with about 88psi. I am pretty certain that those are Oakley goggles and I guess he turned down the Giro helmet sponsorship in exchange for the Knit Toboggan/ Jersey Glove deal. I can't see his shoes or peddles but I betcha a Coke his feet are tied to the peddles with a leather strap, hence the first stir-ups.

Winnie's Integrated Seat Post

Here is a shot of my first integrated seat post design. Craig is a fan of the SDG style seat/seatpost design and after checking it out I am too. Single-bolt design with plenty of adjustment makes this a sweet setup. I have to thank my friend Patrick from Quality Machining for milling this thing down to perfection. It is also gonna have a set of 3 stainless spacers 2.5, 5, and 10 mm to give a little seat height adjustment. I want one for my bike now. Stick around, its fixing to go to paint.

Quiz of the Day

If someone is riding their bike while sitting on the handlebars facing toward the rear wheel are they riding backwards or forwards?, and should they go through the windshield of a Ford F-150 pick-up, does that count 1 point or 2?, and should the rider of that bicycle be put into a coma for 20 yrs. but comes out and makes a full recovery, is that funny or not? I know the answer to the first two but I am having trouble with the last part.
